Arc and flame Houston

Did you know that there is 65,000 square feet that Fusion Inc. has on Houston’s north side just to restore your components? Jeff Fenner and Thomas Neiderberger both take pride in handling customers directly. From oil and gas to downhole components, Fusion Inc. has your back. Your budget simply will not allow for you to purchase brand new components. Because of this, you will need to review our restoration services and be ready for the shock of how affordable and timely the entire process can be. Fusion Inc. of Houston is here to help, one client at a time.

What is the Twin Arc Process?

The Twin arc  and flame Houston process will use two metallic wires that have an electrical charge with opposing polarity. These two wires will be fed into an arc gun. When the wires are brought together at the contact point, the opposing charges on the wires create enough heat to continuously melt the tips of the wires. As a result, the coating will project onto the substrate.

The features of  the twin arc  and flame Houston process differ from the metal powder coating services slightly. The twin arc systems are compact and will not experience component distortion. This system will produce high spray rates and the coating of some internal bores is possible. We can tailor the coating to your liking to meet any needs by preparing parameters to control the arc distance.

The Plasma Spray Process

This is a high frequency arc and flame Houston that is lit between a nozzle and an electrode. Gases will flow between them and become a plume of hot plasma gas reaching from 12,000 degrees Fahrenheit to 30,000-degree Fahrenheit. The coating material will melt and advance toward the substrate. Upon completion, the coating will appear on the component. Fusion Inc. can accurately regulate coating results which are to the advantage of the client.

There is a respectable distance between the plasma gun and the substrate. This distance allows our company to be in control of the spray temperature which is usually between 100-and 500-degrees Fahrenheit. The experts under our roof know what they are doing, this is their passion. As a company, nothing is more important than the satisfaction of our clients.

Factors to Consider

When determining the correct coating, there must be some research into the component to find out what made the problem to start with. Fusion Inc. will evaluate whether there might be an erosion or corrosion issue within the part. We have the experience and the expertise to help the customer find the right solution. Fusion Inc. houses six coating cells on 65,000 square feet of property.  We offer high velocity oxy-fuel, twin arc, and plasma arc and flame Houston coatings.

The HVOF Process

The HVOF process produces low porosity, dense coatings that put off high bond strengths. The arc and flame Houston coatings can exceed 12,000 PSI. These coatings have low residual internal stress and can put out a thickness that differs from a dense thermal spray. HVOF (High Velocity Oxy-Fuel) is an oxygen-fuel mixture that is put into a combustion chamber and lit. The gases expand and flow through a nozzle from the chamber. The powder is fed into the combustion chamber.

Once the powder enters the chamber it then exits through the nozzle onto the substrate at velocities up to 3200 feet per second. This entire process is fully automatic using robotic equipment. Thicker coating applications is the result of low to compressive coating stress. This spray process is for carbide and super alloy coatings. The surface finishes are smooth and can begin life depending on the service environment. During the process, areas that are not to be a part of this process are easily kept safe.

Machine and Grinding from Fusion Inc.

Fusion Inc. provides more than just services like arc and flame Houston. We provide Machine and Grinding services which allows the capability to restore a component to its original condition by the time it has been put through the coating process. Fusion Inc. can accommodate an outer diameter grinding up to 96 inches or 243.8cm. This swing with 37 feet between centers and inner diameter grinding up to 60 inches with a depth of 60 inches. Fusion Inc. can accommodate machining up to 82 inches in diameter and 26.5 feet between centers.

Our company can also manufacture replacement and new components per sample or print, including all machining and finish grinding. Here at Fusion Inc. we specialize in pump and turbine shaft manufacturing, but our core business is component repair.

Choices for Coating Purposes

There are many factors when you determine the correct metal powder coating. More so than arc and flame Houston services, the actual proper coating process is unique. Our company will take a look at whether there could be an erosion issue. Perhaps, there is a corrosion issue inside the component. To diagnose the issue will help us decide which coating will fit best for the job. The part could have a wear and tear issue which we will then be able to give you choices on how we will go about the restoration process.
